Tilney Smith & Williamson has appointed Aviva’s Neil Thornton to their Exeter office as financial planner.
This appointment is part of the company’s expansion into the West Country and follows the appointment of Will Matthewman as Investment Manager, also in his Exeter office.
Thornton joins Tilney Smith & Williamson with 25 years of experience in financial services, having recently worked at Aviva as a financial advisor in Devon and Cornwall for the past three and a half years.
Prior to that he worked in the region for HSBC Retail Banking & Wealth Management, as well as Banco Santander.

In his new role, Thornton’s work revolves around private client relationships as well as business development with key introducers.
He specializes in investment advice, retirement planning and estate planning for private clients, working closely with an investment manager to ensure that the risk and objectives of the portfolios meet the needs of his clients.

Last week Tilney Smith & Williamson agreed to terms for a new office in Cardiff as they seek to expand their clientele in Wales.
The group’s new office at Brunel House in Fitzalan Road comes as the company’s lease on its old office expired last year during the lockdown.
