When visiting the Slim Devices booth at CEDIA, we ran into the guys from Infrant -- the ReadyNAS company. They gave us the scoop on Repertoire, a network attached storage (NAS) device designed for your media room. It will be available in October.
We have long been fans of NAS devices, and Infrant is one of the leaders in NAS for the small business and home markets. While we plan to do more in-depth articles on NAS including the benefits, issues, and solutions, we felt Infrant's launch of the Repertoire media center NAS at CEDIA to be noteworthy. There are many NAS devices available, with most being designed for machine rooms. Some, however, are built without fans and designed to look good in your media center. Repertoire is just that. A four-disk NAS with up to 3 terabytes, it looks good and runs the proven Infrant RAIDaitor server in perfect silence. Additionally, with Infrant's support for Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix; plus built-in Slim Devices Squeezebox/Transporter, iTunes servers and built-in support for SONOS, Windows Media Center , InteractTV, Repertoire looks like a nice choice as a server for home media. Infrant will not be alone when it comes to silent NAS devices. However given their track record with the ReadyNAS, this will be a product to watch. Look to TechDigs.net for a detailed review of Repertoire including a comparison to the ReadyNAS, Infrant's existing NAS. Expected MSRP: - 2TB (four 500GB drives): $2,999
- 3TB (four 750GB drives: $3,999
Available October 2006. As of 9/16, no information on Repertoire is available at the Infrant site. For more photos, click read more.
