The interest and anticipation for HD movies from the Xbox Live Marketplace is causing the service to buckle under all the traffic. Currently working on a review of the new service, TechDigs.net has been trying to download a ~6GB HD movie since the service launched. It looks like the Xbox Live service only gives you a couple of tries to download movies. For us, the download failed twice and we had to resort to calling Xbox Live support in order to get our points back so we could try again.
Thirty minutes later, a helpful tech support supervisor stated, "...we are having a lot of trouble with the Video Marketplace. We've had our tech team working on this since 4:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday and they're currently still working on it..." At this point, it's unclear whether anyone has successfully downloaded a full-length HD movie. Interestingly, our failures did not display any error messages; instead the movie just disappeared from active downloads and showed incomplete files in the memory that then must be deleted. Smaller files may work more reliably, but larger files are failing. Our Xbox 360's broadband connection consistently tests out at 12 megabits per second, so it's not our connection. They confirmed it was at their end. More to come... Update: Xbox Live download problems have been resolved. See our complete review .
