This is a jump-up-and-down fantastic gift for home theater enthusiasts who have an HDTV display with DVI or HDMI inputs, but don't have an upscaling DVD player with a DVI or HDMI out.
What's in the box?
The Oppo Digital OPDV971H DVD player uses its Faroudja DCDi chip to upscale DVDs to 720p or 1080i and looks stunning when compared to any basic progressive scan DVD player. It comes with the DVD player, remote control (with batteries), DVI cable, RCA L/R audio cable and users guide. While this player has only a DVI output with an inexpensive cable, you can plug it right into your HDMI port. What's to like... or not? Upside: Makes all your current DVDs look much better. Tons of formats supported including: DVD Video, DVD Audio, DivX®, XviD, Audio CD, HDCD, WMA, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW Downside: Remote not back lit. Does not upscale using component video outs (so be sure to get the right cable). What's the damage?
